When you withdraw cash from an ATM it's not an expense because you're not actually spending any money. You're only moving money from your bank account into your wallet. It still stays your money. This process is not really relevant for your budgeting purposes.
For this reason TravelSpend doesn't have a built-in cash management system. We recommend not to record cash withdrawals in TravelSpend to keep it simple. You can still keep track of how much you spend in cash or using other means of payment.
However, if you still want to keep track of cash withdrawals you can use this workaround:
- Create a local trip member and call it "ATM".
- Whenever you withdraw cash from an ATM enter it as a transfer from the ATM trip member to yourself. Tap “settle debts” to enter a transfer.
- Every time you pay in cash, you enter it as an expense and select “ATM" as the only paid-for trip member.
